Melissa Rathbone has been working in the alternative medicine field for over 2 decades.  In 2003, she earned her Master’s Degree in Science and Traditional Chinese Medicine at the Pacific College in New York City and began her private practice as a licensed acupuncturist and board certified herbalist. She skipped the Pacific College graduation ceremony because she had the opportunity to further her studies in Bejing China with Dr Wang Ju Yi, a master practitioner of Classical Chinese Medicine, with over 50 years of clinical practice. From 2003 - 2009, Melissa traveled to China 5 times to study with Dr Wang.

Melissa’s initial interest in Chinese Medicine and the Eastern approaches to health began in 1993 at the Swedish Institute where Melissa trained to become a licensed massage therapist. She maintained a private massage therapy practice for several years and brings those skills and knowledge into her practice today.

Melissa holds a BFA in dance from NYU's Tisch School of the Arts. Her years as a professional dancer and her 15+ years as a pilates student of Kathy Grant deeply inform her understanding of the body’s physiology, physical strength and movement.
