Chinese Medicine views the health of each person as an integrated and fluid state of being with many interrelationships, all supported by Qi (pronounced chee). Qi is the energy that underlies, supports and initiates all the mechanisms within our body and mind. When the circulation of Qi becomes depleted or blocked, our body reflects it with physical symptoms. Any discomfort we experience is a response to a disruption in the easy flow of our Qi.

Acupuncture is the art/science of inserting hair-thin needles into specific points along the channels (called meridians) of Qi circulation. Points are chosen by the practitioner after careful consideration of each individual’s presentation. With the insertion of the needles, the practitioner is able to stimulate the Qi, restoring it’s natural flow and promoting the body’s ability to heal itself. The needles are designed to not cut the skin and the sensation is nothing like receiving an injection.  Many patients find the treatments deeply relaxing.

Chinese Herbal Medicine adds another dimension to an acupuncture treatment. A complex and powerful system on it’s own, it partners beautifully with acupuncture.  It enables the patient to treat their condition every day without having to come in for an office visit. Herbal prescriptions are based on classic formulas and modified to treat each patient’s needs. The herbs are prescribed in various forms, from raw herbs that are simmered into teas to freeze-dried granules to pills. All herbal formulations are prepared according to strict Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) and are subject to high levels of quality control.  For more quality assurance, please visit the herbal pharmacy’s website at www.kamwo.com
